On 15th June 2025, Dew Care Hospital and Research Centre, Nagaon, took a significant step toward eliminating cervical cancer by hosting a one-day Training Programme on Cervical Cancer at its Conference Hall. This initiative, titled “CerviPact – A Promise to Protect”, aims to build awareness and capacity among healthcare professionals to reach thousands of women and adolescent girls with life-saving knowledge and resources.
The programme was held in collaboration with Eusuf Memorial Society, which will implement the initiative at the grassroots level across villages, schools, and colleges.
Why This Training Matters
Cervical cancer is one of the leading causes of cancer-related deaths among women, especially in rural areas where access to screening and preventive care is limited. Despite being preventable, many women remain unaware of early symptoms, risk factors, or the benefits of HPV vaccination. The CerviPact initiative addresses this gap through a mass-level awareness campaign led by trained medical professionals.
The training programme was designed to prepare a core group of resident doctors and nurses from Dew Care Hospital to serve as resource persons in the upcoming awareness drives. These trained individuals will lead educational sessions, organize screening camps, and encourage HPV vaccination in their respective outreach zones.
Programme Highlights
The training began at 9:00 AM with a formal inauguration by Dr. Foridul Hussain, Managing Director of Dew Care Hospital and Research Centre. In his opening remarks, Dr. Hussain emphasized the hospital’s commitment to proactive community healthcare and praised the team for launching such a meaningful initiative.
A total of 11 participants – 5 resident doctors and 6 hospital sisters (nurses) – attended the training.
Expert-Led Sessions
The training featured informative sessions by experienced medical professionals:
Dr. Zafrin Bora (Gynaecologist) conducted the first session on cervical cancer basics – its causes, symptoms, early warning signs, and treatment methods. She also explained how early detection can save lives and reduce suffering.
Dr. Nasir Hussain Khandakar (Gynaecologist) led the second session, focusing on screening methods like VIA, Pap smear, and HPV DNA testing. He shared practical tips for conducting screenings in low-resource areas and addressing social stigma.
Dr. Anuj Bora (Paediatrician) presented a special session on HPV vaccination, explaining its safety, recommended age group, and critical role in prevention. He emphasized that educating both parents and young girls is key to improving vaccine acceptance.

CerviPact Implementation Plan
The most engaging part of the training was a presentation by Mr. Wahidul Hussain, who is in charge of implementing the CerviPact campaign. He outlined a clear, phase-wise plan to reach over 10,000 people with awareness messages through:
- Health education sessions in schools, colleges, and community gatherings
- Awareness camps and door-to-door visits in rural areas
- IEC material distribution and interactive group discussions
Mr. Hussain highlighted that the trained doctors and nurses would play a frontline role in this mission, not only by conducting sessions but also by building trust in the community and encouraging women to get screened and vaccinated.
Looking Ahead
The training concluded with an interactive Q&A session and closing remarks from Mr. Hussain, who thanked the trainers and participants for their active involvement. He reiterated that CerviPact is not just a campaign—it is a movement to protect women’s health and dignity.
As Dew Care Hospital and Eusuf Memorial Society prepare to roll out the next phase of the initiative, this training has laid a strong foundation for impactful and sustained community engagement.
